This is one of the most impressive waterfalls of the country. It is situated in the 175 km long glacial river Skjalfandafljot just south of road no. 1. Both the river and the lava field it runs through have their sources far in the south.
While all the active volcanoes in Iceland get all the press and coverage. There are volcanoes in Iceland that are not so active and have remain dormant for thousands of years.

Wir fahren zum Eyjafjördur ins Hochland um Laugarfell und seine heissen Quellen zu besuchen. Von dort aus fahren wir zum Höfjokül Gletscher und unternehmen dort einen Spaziergang, und fahren anschliesend zu Skargafjördur und den sich  kreuzenden Gletscherflüssen.
